Focus on Life Week 9: Well-Behaved Macro

I am a pushover for a good quote and our macro challenge this week helped me make good use of a component used in a tutorial I just put together:

This has always been one of my favorite quotes and when I saw the bracelet connector at Michaels, I just couldn't resist. I wanted to do something special with it and decided to use it in a cuff bracelet. It was so fun to make, I thought you might want to give it a try. If you don't have a Michaels near you or aren't crazy about the quote, you can use another cab or focal. Sally's blog has lots of good instruction for cab finishing. Here is my cuff and the link to the tutorial is below.

With the below materials, it comes together in just a few hours:

If you make it, take a pic and post or send to me and I will post!

Here are some more marvelous macros:

Focus on Life Week 8: Bring on the color!

One of my favorite things about living here in Cave Creek is the funky, quirky personality of the town which is best typified by the many bright colors everywhere you look. It's almost like the shop owners are trying to compete with the amazing hues of the Springtime desert in bloom. Color is everywhere and I'm not talkin' subtle: on signs, on buildings and in the unique items shop owners display on the sidewalks outside their stores. Many of you have seen my photos from our topic last year to "take a walk."

I took a walk through Cave Creek and here are a few of the photos I shared.

For this week's post, I went back into town and found this very cool collection of talavera chickens. I just LOVE them. I guess we could call them  Cockadoodle-colorful!

And wrapping up our week of colors, here is a project I finished last week-end. These earrings are for my good friend Karen on her birthday.

Focus on Life Week 7: Collage of Love

Since I missed posting last week due to my power trip to Tucson, I thought I would feature my Tucson purchases in my first love collage:

It was a quick trip and somehow I just couldn't find the right seed beads. But I gave my wallet a good workout in other areas.

And to close out our love collage, here's my sweetie and I from a recent football trip.

Focus on Life Week 5: Get Outside (Sympathy Snow)

OK, I have to admit feeling a tad guilty with this post. As I set out with my trusty iphone for a walk on Tuesday, I marveled at the blue skies, warm temps (~70) and impending sunset.

As I walked, a gorgeous sunset emerged.

When I got back home to look at the pictures, I felt a pang of sympathy for our fellow bloggies where the temps aren't nearly as cooperative. So I did some quick edits and came up with Sympathy Snow!

I know it's only make believe but my warm thoughts are with our other blogging buddies. Here's where they took walks this week:
