Focus On Life Week 23: Typography

I'm guessing I might have some company with the subject for this week's post. Typography on wedding invitations always makes me feel happy. Except when I made a pretty large goof on ours! I was so excited about our invitations. They were unique (at the time) in the way they folded up like so:

We had a December wedding and took full advantage of the pre-holiday motif. I went directly from the printer to see my hubby-to-be who took one look and informed me that I had misspelled his middle name! Arggghhhh. Of course I assumed that the spelling would be the same as Eliot of "TS" poetic fame. Sadly, I was wrong and yes, we had them re-printed which is why I have so many extras to use for this post!

I just blew up the invite and noticed there is no year... Is that normal? I like the initials on the top!

However I really dislike the new website wedding invites. Totally impersonal. I eloped with my current husband,(24 years + ago) we sent out announcements which we printed ourselves after we got home... Had to program the graphics... I think somewhere there is a copy... I could spend the whole day looking for it as we're being pumeled by tropical storm audrey or whatever her name is....

Hi Lynne, I think it must be normal. I just checked my step-son's invite from earlier this year and it did not have a year. Ours was many years ago! Stay safe with the storm!

What a shame, but you get them right in the end! Love the scrolled initials at the top... I wrote all ours by hand... we got married on a budget of £1000 and that included the honeymoon!
Have a wonderful week :)

I had a December wedding as well! I've done invitations and sent them out with the wrong address!

Very elegant invitations - I love the initials at the top. Glad the mistake was noticed before they all got sent out!

So sorry for the mistake (have to laugh as we did the same thing) Your invitations are really wonderful.

My father had a friend print ours and they misspelled marriage of all things; they printed marraige. It was too close to to mailing time to have them redone so out they went. No one noticed!

Love the color in your invitations. Glad you had time to get them reprinted, but it does make a great story.

Why is it you can proof read a gazillion times and never see the biggest errors? Been there done that!

What a cute story to remember - and beautiful fonts you used for your invites! Glad you were able to re-do them. Does the hubs ever tease you about it? I know mine would! LOL!! ;-)
